3. condition

可以精简为：anaesthesia during a civil war
在描述具体的“条件”或“情况”时，一般不用把condition写出来；condition常用于指之前提到的情况，如：Patients were treated under these conditions.
4. essentially
①The abdominal pain is essentially colicky across the lower abdomen.
可以精简为：There is colicky lower abdominal pain.
basically、essentially和fundamentally这类副词在论文写作时一般不用，即使要用，也多用 mainly或most commonly 之类。
5. grounds
①a heterogeneous group of tumours on epidemiological grounds
可以精简为：an epidemiologically heterogeneous group of tumours
②The diagnosis of epididymo-orchitis is made on clinical grounds.

6. nature

8. type

9. very
在论文写作中尽量避免使用very。
10. abolish、eliminate、fatal、prevent和vital前的副词要谨慎使用
1）
It is absolutely vital for the survival of patients.
可以精简为：It is vital for the survival of patients.
absolutely vital这一表达不妥，因为vital已经是necessary或very important的意思了，不需要进一步强调了。
2）
①The response was partially abolished in these patients.
可以精简为：The response was reduced in these patients.
②Any leak across the piston is entirely eliminated.
可以精简为：Any leak across the piston is eliminated.
abolish、eliminate、prevent这些词本身就含有“全部”、“完全”的意思 ，前面一般不加partially、totally和entirely这些程度副词。
不过，sometimes abolished、abolished in some patients、usually eliminated、eliminated on some occasions这类表达是可行的。
3）
fatal前可以用表示频率的副词，如：rarely fatal、sometimes fatal或usually fatal。fatal前一般不用程度副词，不过也并非完全不行，比如：Few of these diseases are absolutely fatal。
