dissertation和thesis有什么区别？

经常遇到一些小伙伴发文;dissertation和thesis有什么区别？两者翻译过来都代表论文的意思。很多留学生都觉得dissertation和essay两者都可以用，并无实质性区别。其实并不是这样。比如在英国，thesis比dissertation更为严格，一般phd的论文才称之为thesis，而研究生的论文则为dissertation。而在美国正好相反，dissertation一般是针对某个研究方向进行研究，thesis一般则是针对个别问题或者某个课题进行的研究，dissertation比thesis更为正式和严格，这点需要大家进行区分。

其实dissertation和thesis从论文结构来讲，基本没什么区别，都是论题、摘要、主体部分、后面的篇幅都是从理论或者实际角度证明自己的论点，然后就是总结。如果非要找出不同点一般就是他们的页数要求有差异，这个也和学校有关，一般英联邦的国家dissertation都是在150左右。

A、dissertation  英音：  美音：

B、thesis 英音：   美音：
n. 论文；论点（学士学位或硕士学位候选人撰写的论文）
Over the years he returned several times to the city, first to complete a masters degree, writing a thesis on Mecca and the Haj cities.
后来他多次回来，并在这里完成了硕士学位，他的论文主题是关于麦加和圣城。
Their thesis is that lipids (the group of molecules that includes fats), which are needed in small amounts to make cell membranes, are toxic in larger quantities.
人体需要很少量的脂质（含脂肪的分子群）构成细胞膜，脂质过多是则有毒的，这是他们的论点。
